A Lot of A Little

My week has been quite productive but I'm not sure what I actually got accomplished. The rest of the week I do have to kinda "push it" to get everything organized and ready for the reunion. I did get my notes all sent last week and Chase's valances are finished. So I did about half of my goals.

I made these cards this week - actually I made several more but I've alreay sent them. I spent a whole afternoon putzing with these and I did enjoy it. Even dad said they turned out nicely.

I also framed this caricature of Chase that was done at Valleyfair back in '02. I found it when I was helping Amy go through a bunch of stuff. I then went to Goodwill and found this neat frame. Dad really wanted the frame to put a car picture in for the family room but I overruled him this time. Isn't it a neat picture?

Chase decided he shoul have a picture on the blog with him and Grampa so we took one of the two of them.

The Saturday that I went with Grandma to her reunion all day on a Saturday with a whole group of people I didn't know in a room that the air conditioning quit in the middle of a 94 degree day, Dad bought me a couple of little end tables to go on either side of the bed in the chocolate bedroom. Chase said he thought they went very well with the room. Then he says, will you take my picture with it? What could I say?
As you know, we plan to have an ugly shirt contest on Saturday at the Reunion. Dad and I each got what we consider ugly shirts last week one evening. They're in the wash so I don't have a picture of them yet. I will try to take lots of pictures. However, these are the prizes for the ugliest shirts. There will be a "bit of money" in each prize so they can start collecting to buy themselves something new. There will be little signs on them indicating "Ugliest Shirt Award 2010".

I'm not doing something correctly because it's taking me forever to get my pictures to the right place. They download to the top of the blog and then I have to pull them down to where I want them. I don't think that's the right way but it works.

I'll leave you with one last thought from the chocolate bedroom wall - right by the door doing out is this little plague - I love it!

Goals for the week:
1. To make it thought next Sunday noon with my patience intact.
Have a great week!!!!!

Light Fixtures & Shades

I have finally gotten around to buying a shade (cheap & paper) that fits in the semi-round window in the living room. It looks great, was easy to install, cheap and looks a whole lot better than the piece of cardboard I use a few years ago.

Then when we were at Lowe's a few weeks ago, I was looking at ceiling fans for the dining area and since dad was late meeting me, I decided to look at light fixtures just in case I found something I liked. Well, I've been thinking that I didn't to downgrade the light fixture in my "old bedroom" downstairs to something more in that time period. I found a fixture but it was $57 and I thought that was a little much for that room. I had heard about the Habitat for Humanity restore and so we took a drive over there and guess what I found - a fixture I liked even better and it was $10 - what a bargain. Here it is - what do you think?
Dad put the new fixture up and then moved the bedroom fixture into the hall so there's more light down there.

Since he was busy putting up light fixtures, he thought we should have something with more light in the entry way. There were a couple at the Habitat Store that he really like but I thought they were a little "dated". He doesn't understand dated so when he went back to the store to get my end tables for the chocolate bedroom (another story), he bought a fixture for the entry way. It was beautiful in the 90's but he loves it - he likes glitz and it does sorta match the fan above the stairs so I guess it's OK.

That's it for this week. I'm going to sew valances for Chase's room today and maybe take a little nap. We're going to see dad's Aunt Jennie tomorrow and come home on Thursday. It was her 88th birthday yesterday. She's a "nifty" older lady.

Oh, just for your information, Barb Arntzen died last week. She was in her 90's and just didn't wake up one morning. Nancy said her health had been declining.

Have a super, duper week.

Goals for this week:
1. Send notes to Caleb, Helen, Norma, Claudia
2. Sew Chase's valances
3. Start Chase's bedquilt
4. Read more of my South Beach Diet Book
