Beautiful flowers and a scarey boy

Aren't these mums beautiful? These are some of the flowers your father has been nurturing along all summer.
These are his mums at church. There was an area, at least 6'x6' that was one mass of flowers until someone or something trampled right through the middle. You can kinda see the mums on the other side.

These are pictures of dad's "nursery" at church. He has lots of plants all bedded down for the winter. Must be a little of Grandpa Haan in him after all!??

What do you think of my scarey phantom or whatever he is. I LOVE the long fingernails. He really is cute in this costume.

As you both know, Dr. Zoellner said, GO so we're off on Sunday after church. Next time you read my blog, it will be from Washington. Farewell!!

Just Hanging In and Laying Around

Life here at the Haan house is rather dull this past week. I sit in the recliner, usually with ice and pillows on and under my leg. My leg is starting to get all scaley from whatever they put on it - YUK!!! I plan to "try" to scrub it later his morning and then put lots of lotion on it. I really need a pedicure since I had to take all of my beautiful dark red polish off. Maybe I can convince dad to take me in for one.

Dad had a cavity filled this morning and brought home iced coffee and Panera bagels for us. He's really sneaky at the coffee thing. Instead of filling the glass with ice and then the iced coffee, he fills it with straight iced coffee, brings it home and then divides it between two cups and uses our ice - isn't he clever?

I don't have any pictures for my blog this week because I haven't been anywhere exciting. Maybe we'll take a little drive this afternoon. I am so anxious for Thursday morning to find out what the doctor has to say. My biggest complaint through the whole process is the Ace bandage that is so binding behind the knee. Tried to go without it a while on Sunday but I still need the support behind the knee.

I am reading another book by my new favorite author, Richard Paul Evans - this is my 5th book. They're easy reads but I have enjoyed each one. My friend, Jackie, loaned me my first one - "The Locket" and it's been uphill ever since.

Got a message from the most wonderful 13 year old in the world today and her comment was: "Holy Cow, Grams. That's awesome" - now does that mean that she thinks I'm an awesome Gramma or does she think that the answers to her questions were awesome?

That's it for this week. If we do for a ride this afternoon, I'll try to find some interesting picture-taking subjects and report back later this week.

Have a super, terrific, fall-loving week. How can it not be good with the awesome, unbelievable weather we've been having.
LOVE to you both

A Cousin Gathering

On Friday Dad's cousins from Milaca and Bloomington arrived and Uncle Rich & Aunt Henrietta came in the afternoon. There were originally 8 cousins on Grandma Scheer Haan's side. These are the only cousins left. Nella & Teunis are children of Aunt Jennie who lives in Milaca. Uncle Rich is the oldest and Dad is the youngest. We had a wonderful time with them and feel really badly that they left early because they thought I needed more rest and they were "in the way".
This is not a very flattering picture of Gloria - she actually is quite an attractive lady when she smiles. She's a very interesting lady.

This is Chase's Star-Fighter that he made this evening with the Legos. He wanted me to put it on my blog so everyone could see it. Isn't it neat?

Chase and his silly bands - he says he has LOTS of them. His favorite one right now is the hockey stick shown below. Chase's dad's friend, Gina, bought it for him. He is such a lucky boy!!!

Below is my new bestest friend - my brace. It holds my knee straight so I can't bend it. Today went quite well - I even got several things done around the house but it's starting to throb a little now so I think Chase and I will go watch a little Animal Planet together or maybe we'll just read our books. Anyone have a suggestion as to what I should name this new friend of mine?

Chase and his mom had conferences today and his grades were, according to Chase, "awesome. He had several A's and just one B. His AR Goal was 18 points and he has 23.

Dad found this tree somewhere on his little road trip he took with Teunis and Nella on Saturday. Isn't it gorgeous? I haven't been out to see the changing colors yet - maybe dad and I will take a little ride before I have surgery. I'd like to get down to Rock Valley to see Uncle Elmer and Uncle Marv and Doug & Von. They got back from their Europe trip on Saturday night and I'm anxious to hear all about it.
Happy Fall!!!!!
