Projects: painting and steps

As I mentioned in my last blog, Dad decided we should paint our work shed and I have to agree, it really needed it.  The roof is all painted and finished and now we're starting on the trim.  Here is a before:
and after:  It's still a work in process.....................
Dad got a little waylaid because he and Marvin decided to replace the front steps on Marv's trailer.  They really needed to be replaced but when we lived there, dad and I couldn't agree on which way they should go from the trailer - to the back, to the front or straight out.

Here's the before:
the middle and
almost final.............. painting still needs to be done.
This was quite a process for these two.  Sometimes I would go over and just sit and watch and listen to them.  They had a bit of a tough start figuring out how to do the step risers or something to that effect but Jerry here in the park helped them out.

They look nice.  Now let's see what dad's next project will be.  He is still sanding the work shed so we can finish painting and then he wants to paint, at least the door of the mancave - a pretty terra cotta orange.  Have to see.  It's his building so he gets to pick.

It is a beautiful day here today - a little overcast but the temps are wonderful.  I think we'll go have a little lunch somewhere, then I'm going to clean my floors and then either take a nap in my swing or just read my book.

Tomorrow is the most important day of the year for those of us who are believers in the Lord Jesus.  It commemorates the day that Jesus came back to the living after making the supreme sacrifice of dying so that someday we too will live with him for ETERNITY in heaven.  What a glorious thought!!!

Love to each of you!

Dad's new toy and his latest project

Here's Dad's new toy - a brand, spanking new Toshiba Computer with Windows 8 on it.  Therein lies the problem, however.  I have heard nothing but negative things about this program and it is indeed much more difficult to maneuver around in.  I need to sit down some afternoon and make myself familiar with it so I can teach dad.
Such concentration
Dad working on his project - painting the shed.  He has the roof primed and will be starting the final, bonding coat or whatever it's called.  It's thicker and heavier than ordinary paint.

I need to make a run to Lowe's for some paint brushes so have to go.  Have a wonderful week.

Love to all,

Catchin' Up in March

On March 3rd Dad and I sponsored a Gospel Concert with a group of guys we had heard a couple of times before.  We thought they were excellent and after hearing all the wonderful comments after our concert here at the park, there are many people who agree.

We put up chairs for 50 people because we wanted it to look full and had no idea how many would come - we ended up with 140 people.  Dad was kept very busy bringing out more chairs.  We collected $400 for the guys - a great evening!!!   DeAnn, you and John should have been here!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am learning to knit dishclothes - I'm about half done with my first one.  I told Grandma I would try to make some for her to give away with her nice dishtowels.  It's going pretty good.
Some friends of ours left us grapefruit on the front steps - they are HUGE!!!  The one we usually have is up front.  Haven't tasted one yet but I'm sure they are good.
Dad started a new project this morning.  He's sanding the top of our laundry/workshop shed and then we'll be painting it.  He has to work early morning because it's starting to get very warm in the afternoons.
This is our back patio with the razor wire and barbed wire up and finished - it's a little difficult to see so check out the next picture.
These are my wonderful Catalina Mountains through our razor wire.  Beautiful.

Last night we went to dinner with Uncle Rich and Aunt Henrietta - it was their 4th anniversary and Aunt Henrietta's birthday.  Went to Chad's Steakhouse and Saloon.  My food was very good - Dad doesn't really like steak any longer so I'm not sure why he didn't order something else and his potato was hard and cold but he didn't want to hurt their feelings by sending it back.  Had a grand time.

Be sure to check out Linda's blog - they're on their big trip to the Baja of California.  Tomorrow I'll do a blog on Dad's new toy.

Have a great day!!  Love to all

A SICK household

If I were to put a picture on my blog today, it would be a pile of tissues and a container of disinfectant.

Dad had the stomach flu and hopefully is on the mend and I had a horrible, terrible, no good, very bad head cold.  My throat no longer has a prickly pear in it but it still sounds like a frog and I am very weak.  I've cleaned my bathroom today and done two loads of clothes so far and I'm sweating "like a pig".

Aren't you all glad I told you that information?  Have a great day

Party Time

We've been playing games every night since Gary and Nancy arrived.  I'm trying to show on this picture that Nancy was the BIG loser the first night - she lost every game she played in.  We've really had a good time - plenty of wine, ice cream and cookies and even a lemon pie.

On Wednesday noon, Dad and I and Uncle Rich & Aunt Henrietta hosted the Minnesota luncheon.  There were 49 people there and we had a good time.  I told some jokes, had some trivia and we all did lots of visiting.  I think people enjoyed themselves.
Now, I'm SICK!!!!  I have a fierce cold and I feel really lousy today.  In fact, I think I'll go brush my teeth and go over to the Urgent Care.  I think I might need some antibiotics to get over this one.  Sunday night we have our Blue Grass from Heaven group coming in and how can I welcome people and pray with a froggy, croaky voice.

That't it from sickville.  Love to you all,
