Chase, the Football Player

If you think that the last couple of blogs have been bragging about Chase - you're right!!!  But then I blog partly for you, my daughters and partly for me so I can keep track of things that are going on each month.

Tuesday evening we went to our first football game this year - he had a game earlier but we were out of town camping.

Here's his fan club - Grampa, Kurt and Amy and Grandma Mary

Our boy is #72.  Grampa says he needs to be a bit more aggressive.    Gramma says if he is, he may get hurt when those big boys slam into him.
I am slowly learning about football and the fact that it has to go from the middle to the goalpost side.
This game started a bit not good - it was 16 - 0 after the first quarter but Pipestone was just letting the other team think they could run all over them.  They came back and the game was tired at 22-22.  Way to go, Arrows!!!
Afterwards was pizza and pasta at Pizza Hut - almost as good as the football game.  Thanks for letting us come along.

Have a good weekend coming up - I'm still working on the computer room but guess what, you can see the whole middle of the floor.  Amazing!!!!

Love to all,
Gramma and MOM

PS:  Only 8 more days til I land in Bellingham, Washington.

Alexandria Archery Shooting Contest

Friday afternoon Dad and I were on our way home from camping and Amy & Chase were on their way north to Alexandria for Chase's Archery Contest - we met in Marshall and I went from the camper to Amy's jeep.  We arrived in Alexandria about 9:00pm - just in time to watch a little tv and head to bed.  I like motel staying with Amy because we both like the air conditioner going full blast and then just huddle under the blankets.

Chase started his shooting at 10:00 (or a little thereafter) on Saturday morning.  They shoot 12 rounds with 5 arrows each time.  He did awesome in his practice shoots, had a bit of a hard time concentrating the first half and then pulled it out during the second half and did amazing, especially for his first year.

He "loves" it when I ask him to turn around so I can take his picture!!??
There were approximately 10 kids shooting at the same time, in different catagories.  Their targets are 10 feet away  - next year he will be shooting 20 feet.  They have four minutes to shoot the five arrows - some of the kids shoot them one right after another while other kids stop and look around and really take their time.
This was Chase's second practice round - a perfect 25 - all arrows in the 5 point circle.
Chase ended up with a score of 233 out of a possible 300.  He placed 7th out of 34 in his catagory.  Way to go, Chase!!  We are so proud of how well you've done this year - next year will be even better.
This is Dave, the 4H Archery Coach - he was so positive and encouraging.  Kept telling Chase how well he was doing and at the same time offering advice.  A really neat guy.  He's encouraging Chase to try some of the shooting exercises next year - all sponsored by the Pipestone 4H Club.  It's a great program for these students.
Another picture of the windmill field - the threshing machine is way off on the hill.
Dad and I have had some exciting days between camping, archery and Chase's football game last night.  Then today we did errands in Sioux Falls - Dad even took me to Long John Silver's - one of his favorite places to go.  They have very good coleslaw!!

Til tomorrow and football, have a great day!!!

Love to all,

Camping in Becker, Minnesota

As you know, we went camping with Marv and Judy last week.  We got there Sunday evening after getting lost along the way.  Tracy and her husband and two little kids were there - haven't seen her in years and had never met her husband.  Had dinner and then a fire.  In fact, dad built us a fire each evening we were there except the last night - then Marvin built the fire.

On Monday, Teri and her husband, Mike and their son Matthew were there for a short visit - been a long time since I've seen them also.  Matthew is two weeks older than Chase but Chase definitely outweighs him and is taller.  Had a nice visit with them also.

Unfortunately, Judy had to go back to work on Tuesday and we headed off to Milaca to visit dad's Aunt Jennie.  Had a nice lunch with her and her two kids.

Wednesday night we met Judy and Gary & Nancy in Anoka for dinner and of course, had a great time.  Went to a Mexican restaurant and had seafood enchiladas which were wonderful!!!!  Marvin had recommended them.  (Can you believe I didn't get my camera out until Thursday evening so I missed pictures of everybody except Marv - how dumb is that!)

Headed home on Friday after stopping in Prinsburg to visit with Cal & Delores - he's our friend that fell from a grain farm elevator and cracked his pelvis.  He's doing quite well.

Don't ya love Marvin's polar bear pants - matches his shirt perfectly!!!  I told him I'm going to get some polar bear pants before we go camping next summer.
Dad with his fire and one of his mosquito torches - he had torches and little citronella pots all over the place.  Judy said she felt like she was at a Salem Witch Party.
Isn't this pretty?  Marvin and dad said my picture wouldn't turn out - guess I showed them!!
Something seems to really like me when we go camping - this is the second time that my legs have been all "bit up".  I think it is probably chiggers which itch like crazy - kept me up one night until I was able to get some Benadryl and anti-itch cream.  I'm the only one who gets bit - none of the others had any bites and I don't see or feel any bugs on me - just the itching.  They are finally feeling a bit better - hard to wear tennis shoes and socks, though because the socks rub on the bites on my toes.
These windmills are just north of Kurt and Amy's.  It is so picturesque - not sure how to spell it.  I had Amy stop on the way home so I could take some pics - love it!!
Tomorrow I'll share some pictures from Chase's Archery Shooting Tournament on Saturday.

Have a super, duper week ahead.

Love to all,
