Boyfriend Bears

When I first thought I might go to Washington for a little "Gramma fix", DeAnn told me that she thought I would enjoy a Boyfriend Bears Session that Holly would be participating in on Sept. 21st.  She said it was a special session for parents, family and friends.  So, of course, I jumped at the chance to see my girl "in action".  John and I went along with five friends of Holly's and it was inspiring and challenging.  The theme the girls have chosen is "Purity is a Battle" and their program encourages young girls to remain sexually pure until marriage.  At the end of their sessions with girls from 12--whatever, the girls are given a white bear with an opening in the back and they are encouraged to write a letter to their future husband.  The opening has velcro on it and they can add additional notes as time goes on.  It is a wonderful endeavor for these young girls and you can read a lot more about it on their website:  boyfriendbears.org - check it out.

My very favorite teenage young lady with one of their boyfriend bears.  Love you forever, Miss Holly!!  Isn't she the most beautiful 16-year old around?  Both inside and out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  (Grammas are always allowed to brag.  In fact, I think it's their job.)

This is a very, very dear lady who has become an important part of the Hiemstra family and a dear friend of mine.  Auntie Denise is "one of a kind" - an amazing lady who supports our family in Washington with lots of love and prayers.  Denise, I hope you know how much you are loved!!  Plus she makes an amazing pot of potato soup.

This is the group of young ladies who make up the boyfriend bears board and give the sessions.  Next week they will be going to Prescott, AZ to give a session at a school for girls who have had some problems in their lives.  The head of the school read about them in a magazine and contacted them to see if they would be willing to come down.

The first priority in their sessions is to help girls to have a personal, on-going relationship with the Lord Jesus and purity will flow from that.  I wish everyone could hear what these young ladies have to share.  There are so many areas in our lives where we all need to be on guard to stay pure in today's world.

Up until this time, almost all of their financing has come from a private source.  They are now needing to do some fund raising.  They have these cute little bracelets that have their theme on it.  If anyone would like to order one, let me know and I'll send in one big order to Miss Holly.  There are also other items for sale on their website.  Bracelets are $5.00 each.

Well, that was my first event.  I did not take many pictures while I was there but I have at least another 3 days worth.  If I can get connected while we are "sheep sitting", I'll see you all tomorrow.  Otherwise it will be Monday.
Have a GREAT weekend!!!!!

Love to all
Gramma and MOM
