A Bit Disappointed

Aunt Evelyn wanted some "before" and "after" pictures of our new trailer flooring.  Well, this is a BIG before picture - the trailer has carpet from end-to-end which means there's carpet in the kitchen and bathroom.  They had put a big piece of carpet protector in the kitchen area so when I picked it up today, you can see the original carpet compared to what it looks like now.  The streets down here really play havoc with the carpet - most people are ripping it out and putting in a hard surface flooring.

Now, for the disappointment part:  the flooring was supposed to be installed today but it's raining.  Gabriel called and said that if he comes over, all of his equipment will get wet in the back of his pickup so now it will Monday.  He should check the paper because it looks like it's going to be raining off and on for the next several days.  But he assured us that he will be here, even if it's still rainy because he'll find something to cover his equipment.

Guess I can wait another couple days...............................

Dad

Dad and Marvin's project is finished and all of the shelving and Marvin's boxes are back in the shed.  I told them how nice is looked and all they could say was - it's only a shed.  It looks beautiful compared to how it looked when we lived there.  Oh well, that's men for ya.

I thought blogger had fixed it's issues but I'm still having a few problems this morning so I guess I'll just sign off and get to my newsletter.  I had it planned that I would work on my newsletter all day while Gabriel was doing the floor.  At least I'll still get my work finished today.  Have a short interuption though when I go to play Hand 'n Foot this afternoon.

Have a good weekend!!  Amy, stay warm!
Love to you all,

Working in Arizona

Peter has a project he's been working on this last week.  Hopefully it will be finished the first part of this week - he says it's his last project for the year.  Except for fun projects, of course.

This is the shed at our old place.  He had told Marv that he would replace the floor in the shed.  Yesterday he and Marv got the first piece laid.  It's really gonna be nice when it's finished.  Nicer than when we lived there.

Taking a break - note the shorts and short-sleeve shirt.

Our new laminate flooring against the old carpet.  I don't mind the color of the carpet, except where it's black from our shoes.  Gabriel is going to be laying it for us next Saturday.  Can't wait.  I'll take some more before and after pictures after he gets here.  He's hoping to get it all finished in one day.

The boxes of flooring sitting in our living room.  The guy at Lowe's says it has to "acclimate" to our house.  Makes a good end table.

Tomorrow we have a ladies Welcome Back Luncheon.  Everybody brings a salad and they provide breads, drink and dessert.  I made a Sauerkraut Salad that Amy's mother-in-law says she brings to potlucks and everybody really likes it - we'll see how well it goes over down here.

Well, that's it from sunny, warm, beautiful Arizona.  Have a good week!!!!

Love to all,

PS:  Hope things go well for you this week, Kurt!!!

Happy Birthday, DeAnn

It was this young lady's birthday on Wednesday, January 9th and I'm just now getting around to doing a blog on her.  I did get her card mailed on time and I hope she received it on time.      Now, what do I say about her?  I remember clearly the day she was born - it was about 2:00 in the afternoon and we were thrilled!!  I do remember the doctor telling your dad that he could "stand by the door" of the delivery room and watch through the window, if he wished.  Well, dear Dad with his weak tummy made a bee-line toward the other door.  She weighed 8 lbs 10 ozs and was BEAUTIFUL!!!!  Back then, dad wasn't even allowed in my room if the baby was there so you spent most of your time in the nursery, except at feeding time.   You were born on a Saturday night and of course, your Grandpa and Grandma and aunts and uncles were there to see you the first night.

You are many things to many people, DeAnn.  You are a sister who shares a love of chocolate peanutbutter ice cream, just for starters.

You are an awesome wife and mother, which I'm sure John and the kids would agree with.  It is so fun to watch you interact with Holly, Sam and Katie!!

Chase adores you!!!  I'm trying to remember the words he described you with in your 40th birthday book.  I remember they were priceless.

You are a good listener!!!

You are a chocolate lover

I have a lot more to say and I had a lot more pictures but Blogger is not working the way it's supposed to so this will have to be it.  Sorry!!
Happy 42nd birthday!!!!!  Dad and I wish you many, many more in good health, with much happiness, joy and peace.

Love to you

Pictures

This is my favorite place to have breakfast in Tucson.  Dad is not as keen on it as I am.  I have the same thing every time I go - 2 eggs over medium, Rachel's tators (American fries with onion and green pepper) and toast.  Good comfort food!!!
Here are the pictures of Dad playing Shuffleboard that I told you about in my earlier blog.  I'm still having problems but found a way around it.  This is at our park - next league game is Friday morning.
Look at his big smile!!
This picture is a bit interesting but a little errie.  When we were at Uncle Elmer's on Christmas Eve, he wanted us to take a picture of him with his sister who lived just around the corner from him in the Rock Valley home.  Uncle Elmer and his sister are cousins of Aunt Henrietta.  She was telling us that her cousin in Rock Valley had died on Christmas morning - the one who lived in the same place that Uncle Elmer lived in.  I said, can't be - we saw her on Christmas Eve.  Then Aunt Henrietta started doubting it herself and thought maybe she had misunderstood her sister.  We investigated and sure enough, this lady died the morning after I took her picture.  She fell overnight and had a "brain bleed".  Isn't that kinda creepy?  I had the picture made and will send it to her son in Rock Valley.  I talked to LaVonne about it and she told me to send it.  She said her son's family would love to have it.  It's really sad for Uncle Elmer because Gertie had a hard time walking so he would push her wheelchair and she would tell him where they needed to go.  She took good care of him.  They actually took good care of each other.

That's it for today.  Love to all!!!!

No Pictures

I was going to upload some pictures from yesterday's Shuffleboard game but I cannot get my picture upload to work, so I guess I'll just have to tell you about it.  Yesterday was league day and Dad only had to play one game - they had an abundance of players.  It was a very close game but he didn't win.  Our team had 9 losses and 3 wins.  I told dad not to feel badly because some of the most veteran plays did louseyer.

Last night dad installed my new under the counter radio/cd player so I'm rather anxious to use it today.  I went to bed while he was still installing it - I head to bed and my book usually about 9:30 while Dad gets there about 11:00 (I think).  However, dad is just getting up now and it's almost 9:00.

Beautiful sunshine today but it's supposed to be cool.

Well, without my pictures I haven't much to say.  Hoping tomorrow will be better.

Love to all

We're Here

On our way down to Arizona, we stopped for lunch at a DQ and they had a little gift shop.  Peter found this little pink plaque and thought it was soooo funny.  I told him that since he found so much humor in it, he had to buy it for me.  (It was NOT cheap.)  There was only one there or I would have bought several - for my sisters and my daughters.  I know they would all have been thrilled to get it.
We arrived in Tucson on Saturday afternoon and unloaded the van, turned everything back on and took a quick nap.  We had Wienerschnizel for a late lunch and had pizza with Rich and Henrietta for dinner.  They graciously invited us over - had a nice time and got back to the trailer about 10:00.  Up early for Sunday morning worship and our usual trip to What-a-Burger for biscuits and gravy.  Price has gone up from last year and I didn't think they had as much sausage.  Coffee is good, though and it's FREE for senior citizens.  Not too many things in this world any more that are totally free.
This is the view I see when I sit in my recliner in the living room.  Sunday there was snow on the top of the mountain - beautiful.  I love the Arizona mountains.

We had been having some problems with erosion in our back yard since we purchased our trailer and have been "discussing" options to remedy the situation with the board for the last two years.  Volunteers from the park got together and put in a brick wall for us with all rock backfill before we arrived.  It is beautiful or at least I think it is.  Can't wait til Peter builds our arbor which will block off the apartment complex behind us.  Now I wish I had taken some "before" pictures so you could see how nice it really is.

I've been working on the January newsletter and it's at the proofreader so as soon as I get it back, I'll send it on to the office and then I can start doing some "fun" things like looking for new flooring.  We have some very special company coming in February and I'd like my new flooring to be in and maybe even my new window treatments.  I will take "before" and "after" pictures of them.

Well, that's it for now.  Not much has been happening yet.  Oh yes, I almost forgot.  Dad and I played a game of Shuffleboard this morning with another couple.  Dad needed some practice because he has a game on Friday and another on Monday.  We were ahead for five frames; then the other couple went ahead and the score was 36-28 with one frame left.  Dad didn't do anything and I had last shooting.  I got 18 points and we beat them 46-36.  It was GREAT!!!!
